Default What program can you use to open a video file that is called

MOV02997.THM on a apple computer? I have this video that my friend emailed me that came from her digital camera but I don't know how to open it! I just need to know a program that will open .THM files on a mac. I am so grateful for any help you can give me!

    Hello,

The file that ends with the extension .THM is a thumbmail photo of the real movie, it is not the movie. THM = THuMbnail. You can open this with any program that can view images. You might have to tell it to open it, and it might give an error, but it is a very small photo. Take a look at the properties of the .THM file and you will see it is 10K or less, which is very small, and not large enough to be a movie.

Have your friend look again and send you the other file that goes with the THM file. It might be named something like MOV02997.mov or MOV02997.avi or MOV02997.mpg something along those lines. It will also be a large file, maybe 5MB in size.

    hope that helps.

I found an easier method. When I downloaded the video file from my canon Powershot, It was down loaded as a thm file. I opened the same with irfran view. The thmbnail appeared. I closed the file and it got itself the irfran symbol. and the file name as MVI_. I simply clicked play on the icon and as my default player is Windows Media player, it beautifully played the clip even though it was only a small clip. I don't know if it answers the friends dilemma. He can try it.
