I've noticed this problem with my iTunes/iPod Touch music library. 3rd gen

After editing the ID3 metadata (lyrics) resynching my iPod doesn't update the info if the file has previously been in the library.

Example - I add an mp3 to the library. I note that the lyrics embedded are wrong, so I edit the lyrics tab, close the file and resynch. No change. iTunes shows an updated lyrics tab for the file, but the mp3 loaded on the iPod doesn't.

I next remove the file from my iTunes library. I resynch iPod without the file. Then I add the supposedly revised mp3 file to my iTunes library... it adds the edited file to iTunes library, BUT the old unedited file, which does not reflect the updated file in the source directory is what loads to the iPod. It is almost as if iPod is checking a backup directory for the filename first, and finding it loads that to the iPod rather than the file I pointed to. Anyone notice this behavior when editing ID3 metadata for mp3 files already in the library? How can I completely remove refs to previous version of the mp3 file related to the iPod device?

p.s. The first time I noticed this was with a file that would never finish "loading lyrics" when I called up the screen with meta/genius link. So I opened the "info" and edited the lyrics tab. That is when I noticed it was not calling the edited file but the old one on my iPod after resynching

Thanks
