About LinkBacksOk, I connect my I pod Shuffle (The 1st verson) two my dell laptop. It wont connect. I try another USB port, still nothing. HELP
Its a shuffle. it plug into the computer not by a cable

Try opening iTunes first.

Try another computer.. Sounds like a USB interface issue. But just to be sure, first reboot the IPOD following the reset instructions at apple.com, then change out the cable and/or try another device to see if the OS recognizes it.
