a new battery will need to be installed and will set you back about £14.00($28.00)

a dead battery wont erase your songs, but considering you have an ipod i'm assuming your ipod is synced to a computer with your tunes on anyway

    or not i dunno

    if not try resetting it

i answered another question on resetting ipods i'll link u in a sec

    good luck

It really depends what you were doing when the ipod turned off. And if your battery was charged, if it wasn't then the battery is dead and you just need to charge it.

Or, the other possibillity is that you will have to reset the ipod because of a malfunction. You just need to read your ipod manual(if it came with one) and it should tell you how to do that.

I believe it was menu, play, and the center key. Im really not sure so, you should check your manual.
And if you have warranty in your ipod, then (the place) you bought it from should give you a new battery. I don't know about the installation part.

Im glad i can assist you in your problem.

p.s (when you reset your ipod, without plugging it on your pc, your songs shouldn't and won't get erase)
