Thread: My ipod is 4gb and it has 671 songs and it says its 3.23 gb full out of 4gb.WHY???

i deleted all my fotos for the ipod could take more songs.Why i thought the 4gb ipods u can store up to 1,000 songs.And mines i only have 671 and its already getting full why is this happening?

I can't believe that would be the case. I have a 1gb ipod and it holds about 210/240 songs(thats the amount it says it can hold).
All I can think of is either 1)you have really long songs or 2)there's something that you're missing

in the ipod box there's a fine print explaining the condition to fit 1000 songs (the songs should be 3 minutes, 128kbps, etc etc) so if your song is longer or you have songs with higher bitrate (like 192 kbps or 320 kbps) it's bound to take more space, thus lessening the amount of songs you can put in your ipod =)

if you want to change your songs to 128 kbps so that you can fit more to your ipod(notice that this will reduce the audio quality) you can use a program called a resampler. an example is this:

if u read the print in the manual i think it says 1000 3min songs and it all depends on how much memory each of ur songs take

on the songs u choose u have to be careful about the mb's with it
