I regret allowing my daughter to purchase an ipod touch. She is 12 years old and has no business viewing all the sex crap applications. First off I'm not generally a supporter of censorship, but since it is clear apple doesn't have our children's best interest in mind. I am forced to reconsider. It seems THERE IS NO APPARENT WAY TO CENSOR VIEWING OF INAPPROPRIATE SEX BASED APPS ON THE ITOUCH. While there is a way to censor the purchasing ability of a juvenile, they are still allowed to look at the pictures that promote the apps. The only way to completely censor the apps is to disable them all together. I gotta say what a bunch of garbage that is. Another case of corporate greed overruling intelligent technology.

I didn't know about real sex applications for the iPod touch, but ok now I really search for them, I found some apps that showing some girls in bikini, but before I want to download them I get the question if I'm really eighteen, so there is a way of sencorship!
And I know when you make an account for the app store you must fill in your age and then when you want to download an sex app it is not possible if your under eighteen, also censorship!

Thanks for the reply, but you have overlooked what I am referring to. There are apps for womens boobs, naked girls, virtual girlfriends, dirty talk, playboy models, etc., etc., etc...
While it is true that they are not allowed to download the apps unless they are 17, 18, etc., the issue is that 12 and under ( some would argue 17 and under) really don't even need to be exposed to the constant bombardment of sex for sale, sex sells, selling sex, making them think you can't be pretty unless you have sex appeal. Everybody loves sex, that's a given. But that's not the issue here. The issue is one of targeting underage youth by the corporate society with anything that turns a profit and Apple not being responsible enough to protect them. A security measure in the Itouch where the parent can filter what their youth are exposed to would be simple and well apreciated. The so-called filter that the Itouch comes with is a poor excuse for any filtering at all. Until Apple steps up to the plate and embraces their responsibility to their customers, many more under age youth will continue to be exposed to the possibilities of teen pregnancy, premature sexual disease, and most importantly, abuse. My opinion is that Apple is a wonderful company, leading the world in enlightened technology. So my wish would be that they also lead the world in enlightened socially RESPONSIBLE technology.

I had read this and I am somewhat agree with this. Actually it depends on what your kid is exactly doing with the gedget. I am quite impressed with this.

The world is filled with filth! You have to teach your daughter to filter out the bad stuff because there are always ways to go around "censorship" and download apps that are inappropriate for teenagers.

Technology=open opportunities for everything. It all depends on how you use it that will affect you and those around you.
