    Default Wifi help needed

So I just got my ipod touch in the mail today, have been struggling to get this thing working. I can't seem to get wifi to really work. Well it worked, but I had to turn off mac filtering, encryption, and the ipod literally has to be on top of the router for it to work. If it's not even on top of it, the browser fails or it won't connect to the router. This is really starting to frustrate me. Any help would be appreciate. I have already tried to reset the network settings. I've searched everywhere for help on this.

Did I get myself a bad copy?

    *edit*

So I just did touchspeedtest.com with the ipod on top of my router and it rated it at 615.9kbps. Another odd thing is that I can pick up my signal from all around my house, even outside. But it won't connect unless it's literally on top of the router.

It came with the january update...I've already tried resetting it all. Still no luck. I'm taking it into the store and seeing what they can do. I'm a bit disappointed.
