No, you cannot play your songs through the built in speaker. The only built in speaker it has, is used for the alarm and the sound fx.

if u cant load songs on it anyway why would u want to play music through a speaker? lol

the built-in speaker can only play things like alarms and other effects

Yup, the new Touch has a speaker. At first I couldn't find where it was, but then I noticed a REALLY thin line between the chrome trim and the screen, and thats the speaker going around the entire rim lol... I didn't think it'd be a big addition, but it's really handy, I love it

Yes, the built in speaker can be used for anything on the touch now.

Default RE: built in speaker. Problems with speaker docks.

This is all very fabulous but, the speaker is far too quiet so unless you're in an area with no noise, there's no point in it. Another thing I've personally come across, and i don't know whether or not this happens with everyother ipod touch, when it's connected to a speaker dock, when you play a song/piece, like you would with any other ipod, the built in speaker kicks in instead of it playing through the speaker dock. It's abit dissapointing as I wanted to play my music through my cars speaker system and you can only connect it via the USB connector, it works with the ipod nano. If anyone could help me with this problem, don't hesitate to get in touch thanksss
