Default Speaker issues through headphone play

Has anyone had this problem? My ipod touch plays without headphones just fine, no matter how loud the volume. As soon as I plug in headphones, the music gets fuzzy the louder I turn the volume up, so fuzzy that the music is almost unrecognizable. It sounds fine as long as I keep the volume to down very low...so low that you can barely hear the music. I thought it might be my headphones so I tried plugging them into my husbad's ipod touch and they work just fine so I know the headphones aren't bad. Any suggestions???

Maybe the connector on your iPod is dirty or broken?
Or try the Setting of the sound on your iPod.
