Default Stuck in recovery mode - unknown error (14)

    Hi everyone

I was updating my son's Ipod Touch 2g via iTunes to 3.1.2 (it has not been jailbroken - is that a word?) when my wife, for some unexplicable reason, unplugged it. It is now stuck in recovery mode. I plugged it back in and tried to restore via iTunes (following the prompts) but part-way through restoration got the message:

"The Ipod "Ipod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (14)."

I can't get past this point. I have tried different USB ports, different PC, updated iTunes, etc, without success. I have looked through the forums and Apple's site, and I am not sure what to try next.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My son is 6 and is not too happy.

    Thank you very much.

    Tim

hi have you tried putting your ipod into DFU mode if not to do this have ipod connected turn off then when its completely off hold both the power botton wnd home button for 10 seconds your screen should flash let go of power button keeping hold of home button for a further 10 seconds your screen should now be blank unresponsive but itunes will pick it up as an ipod that needs restoring then just go through restore that way
