    Smile help me lol

hi guys, first of all please forgive me, i am a total
novice with computers. I am in desperate need of some help and hope this
is the right place to ask. I want to connect my Ipod touch to my internet
through wifi. I have a router and a home pc.
I was totally at ease with the home pc, but the trouble began when i got
the laptop, i had no idea about routers and networking, so my friend came and
set everything up for me.It all works great, the laptop works fine and
connects no prob. Now i have an ipod touch and want to use it through my wi fi
router thingy, it finds my network ok, but when i try to acces it it brings up
"unable to join the network" The chap that set it up has moved away, he
says he didnt put a password or anything on it, how can i sort
it? Thanks. any help would be fantastic!

PS. i can find my home network ok, but when i click it it dosnt ask for a password???? it just says inable to connectplease help, thank you.

Hi, I'm not sure why you can't connect but I'm sure someone else here will be able to help.
What I will say is, you need to password protect your network! Your friend should have done this & not left it unprotected.
You will need to access your router's setup page. Depending on which make/model your router is, the setup page ip address is probably something like http://192.168.0.1 - There maybe a label or sticker on the router somewhere with this on. If not, you should find it in the routers instruction manual.
Anyway, once you have this ip address, enter it in your internet browser's address bar (top of the screen)
Once in the router's setup page, you should be able to add a password to your wifi network. You will of course have to enter your password when you connect with your laptop next time.

You may also find other settings which will help your iPod to connect. For example if the router offers a choice of wifi channels (frequency) you may want to try a different one.

    Hope this helps
    - Steve
